Pittosporum tob. 'Nanum'
Pittosporum tobira "Nanum" is also called Australian laurel in Dutch. It is a small, evergreen shrub with a compact, bushy, round upright shape and glossy, leathery, oval leaves, bright green at first, later slightly darker and more grey-green. Pittosporum tobira "Nanum" blooms in April and May with creamy white star-shaped flowers with flaming petals, the flowers also spread a delicious sweet orange scent. Pittosporum is only moderately hardy and should always be protected in winter or moved to the orangery or conservatory as a container plant. The plant is particularly tolerant of sea wind and salt and attracts butterflies and bees.
