Cytisus 'Lena'
Cytisus 'lena' is a medium-sized, semi-evergreen broom variety with a compact upright, bushy growth, it blooms profusely at the end of May with red-yellow flowers. This broom likes a position in full sun and prefers to grow in neutral to acidic soil. The cytisus 'lena' is wind and sea wind tolerant and can therefore be planted in the coastal region. Pruning is done after flowering if desired. In the fall, green seed pods decorate this broom. The plant is also very resistant to air pollution, can be used as a solitary, accent plant in the garden or in public greenery.

This variant of the Pipestrootje is notable for its bright orange-yellow autumn coloring and the flowering stalks that remain upright until well into winter. Flowering starts sometime in August. This molinia blooms from July to October, with airy, purple-brown flower panicles that turn yellow-brown later in summer and autumn.
