Rhododendron 'Shamrock'
Rhododendron 'Shamrock' is a small evergreen rodo with a bushy, compact, low-growing shape. The leaves are small elliptical and colored yellow-green. This keiskei hybrid blooms in March, April, with funnel-shaped yellow-green flowers grouped in clusters of 8 to 9. This rhododendron prefers a location in filtered sunlight or partial shade, sheltered from strong winds and with a shaded root zone. It requires an acidic, moist, well-drained soil that should never be allowed to dry out completely, requires little pruning and is very hardy, the flowers of 'Shamrock' can also withstand a few degrees of frost. The plant is said to owe its name to the fact that it often starts to flower on St. Patrick's Day.
