Dianthus 'David'
Dianthus plumarius 'David', also called grass carnation in Dutch because of its blue-green, grass-like leaves, is an evergreen perennial with a compact, bushy, clump-forming habit. This grass carnation blooms profusely from May to late September with red saucer-shaped flowers. It likes an airy position in full sun and requires a well-drained, moist to moderately dry calcareous soil. This dianthus is very hardy, but hates wet feet in winter, once established it is fairly drought tolerant and can also be used as a coastal plant. Due to its tolerance to air pollution, it is also suitable for urban use.
