Spiraea jap. 'Anthony Waterer'

Spiraea japonica "Anthony Waterer", also called muscle shrub in Dutch, is a small deciduous dwarf shrub with a bushy and spherical shape. The multicolored leaves are small, narrow and sharply toothed, the young shoots are bronze-red, the autumn color purple-red. From June to August, this muscular shrub blooms profusely with small deep pink to carmine red flowers in flattened corymbs on annual wood. This spiraea likes a sunny to slightly shaded position in a well-permeable cool and moist soil. This plant is hardy, tolerates (reasonably) sea wind and air pollution.
