Eriophorum angustifolium

Eriophorum angustifolium, syn.scirpus angustifolius, called peat fluff in Dutch, is an indigenous river bank plant that is again more common in Belgium and the Netherlands. The leaves are dark green, linear, narrow, cypergrass-like. The habit of this peat fluff is upright, mat-forming, this plant spreads smoothly in width. Eriophorum angustifolium blooms from May to June with white, fuzzy flowers in spikelets three to eight cm long. Peat lint likes a position in full sun and an acidic, moderately to poorly drained, moist soil, the plant can also be planted under water from 0 to 5 cm. Eriophorum angustiflolium is very hardy, tolerant to sea wind, has few pests but can occasionally be affected by powdery mildew.
