Cyperus longus

Cyperus longus is called long cyper grass in Dutch and is therefore a large cyper grass, it often grows higher than 120 cm. Cyperus longus is, given its decorative value and good winter hardiness, often used as an alternative to the tropical papyrus.The leaves are long, narrow, grassy, the inflorescence is quite striking with small flowers in glittering maroon spikes and occurs from June to August . Cyperus longus likes a position in full sun or partial shade and moist to wet soil, it also likes to stand with its feet in the water. It tolerates sea wind and air pollution well, is disease resistant, pest free and also sufficiently hardy, unlike many other tropical species.
