Persicaria bistorta "Superba" is a tall, deciduous knotweed or viper root. The leaves are elliptical to lanceolate, medium green to dark green in the spring and summer, and colored red in the fall. Persicaria bistorta "Superba" flowers from the end of May to August, with elegant, pink flower spikes. This persicaria bistorta likes a position in full sun or partial shade, is ph flexible, reasonably drought tolerant, but grows fastest in well-drained, moist soil. This mountain plant does well as a border plant, coastal plant and in the partial shade garden.
