Rhododendron 'Horizon Monarch'

Rhododendron 'horizon monarch' is a medium-sized, evergreen, rhodo with a broad upright shape. The leaves are large, elliptical, leathery, short-pointed, dark green. This catawbiense hybrid blooms mainly from May to June, with funnel-shaped, green-yellow to pale yellow flowers with a soft red glow, the round flower clusters are composed of 15 flowers. Rhododendron 'horizon monarch' likes a position in filtered sunlight or partial shade, sheltered from chilly winds and with a shaded root zone, but it can also handle some full sun. It requires an acidic, moist, well-drained soil that should never be allowed to dry out completely, requires little pruning and is reasonably hardy.
