Saxifraga x urbium, also called painter's sorrow, is a ground-covering, evergreen perennial with a rosette-forming habit and spoon-shaped, leathery, dark green leaves. Schildersverdriet blooms abundantly in June and July with small light pink to white flowers. After flowering, the flower stems of Saxifraga x urbium may be cut away. This plant is hardy and prefers a not too heavy, well-drained soil and a position in partial shade or shade. Saxifraga x urbium is evergreen, disease resistant and tolerates air pollution reasonably well.
