Saxifraga arendsii "purpurteppich", also referred to as moss stonecrop, is a ground-covering, evergreen perennial with a rosette-forming habit and small compound, hand-shaped, fresh green leaves. The moss stonecrop blooms profusely from April to early June with small cup-shaped carmine-red to violet-pink flowers. After flowering, saxifraga arendsii may be trimmed to maintain a compact shape. This plant is very hardy and prefers a calcareous, well-drained soil and a position in the sun or partial shade. Saxifraga arendsii "purpurteppich" is evergreen, disease resistant and reasonably tolerates air pollution.
