Eupatorium mac. 'Atropurpureum'
Eupatorium purpureum subsp. Maculatum 'atropurpureum' is a fairly robust, bushy upright perennial with lance-shaped, serrated, dark green leaves on purple-red stems. In Dutch the plant is called purple liverwort or royal herb. This eupatorium flowers from July to September with small purple-pink flower heads (per 15) grouped in flattened flower panicles. Liverwort likes a sunny position and does well in any sufficiently fertile and moist soil, the plant is very hardy, attracts butterflies and bees and tolerates sea breeze and air pollution well. Moreover, this eupatorium is disease and pest free and can also be used as a cut flower or for the dry bouquet.
