Galium verum
Yellow bedstraw is an upright or ground cover plant. Because the round stems have four ribs, they appear square. The plant forms whorls of eight to twelve leaves. The leaf edges are rolled over. The top is dark green and shiny; the underside is paler. The flower is golden yellow and has a size of 2-4 mm. The crown lips have a fine tip and a rolled edge. The underside of the flower is hairy. The flowers have a honey-like scent. The inflorescence is a panicle. The flowers form apices that together form a kind of plume. The variety blooms from June to autumn. The fruit is a two-part split fruit that is hairless and grows 1-1.5 mm long.
