Digitalis purp. 'Excelsior Hybrids'

Digitalis purpurea 'Excelsior Hybrids', is a biennial foxglove with a sturdy upright shape and a clumpy habit. The plant has dark green hairy leaves and blooms from June to August with pink, purple, white, purple-red or light pink flowers speckled on the inside on sturdy, upright flower stems. Digitalis purpurea prefers a position in full sun or partial shade and well-drained, humus-rich soil. This plant is very hardy and reasonably drought tolerant, tolerates sea wind and air pollution, but can sometimes suffer from mildew or leaf spot. Infestation by aphids and leaf and bud nematodes is also possible.
