Spiraea jap. 'Goldmound'

Spiraea japonica "Goldmound" is also called muscle shrub in Dutch. It is a small, deciduous shrub with a bushy, round upright shape. The leaves are ovate to lanceolate, golden in spring, golden green in summer and orange yellow red in fall. From June to August, this muscular shrub blooms profusely with small, pink flowers in flattened corymbs on annual wood. This spiraea likes a sunny to slightly shaded position in a well-drained, cool and moist soil. This plant is hardy, tolerates sea wind and air pollution reasonably well, is pest and disease free and, in addition to the sea of flowers in spring, also offers beautiful orange-yellow leaf coloring in autumn.
