Lavandula int. 'Dutch'

Lavandula intermedia 'Dutch' is a hybrid lavender shrub, it is a cross between l.angustifolia and l.atifolia . It grows somewhat higher than the angustifolia species and is as wide as it is high. In July and August it blooms with beautiful strongly scented lavender-blue flowers. The leaves are gray-green to silver-green, oval and aromatic. This lavender species likes a sunny position in not too rich, well-drained soil. Pruning is necessary every year to prevent the plant from becoming lignified. Lavandula intermedia 'dutch' is reasonably hardy, can withstand sea wind and air pollution and is often used for rockeries, ground cover, herb gardens, fragrance gardens, group planting and window boxes. Also attracts butterflies and bees.
