Deutzia purpurascens 'Kalmiiflora'

Deutzia purpurascens 'Kalmiiflora', this bridal flower is a large upright deciduous shrub, with oblong, lanceolate, green, serrate leaves and pretty white-pink flowers on the inside and rose-red to carmine-red on the outside. This deutzia likes full sun and light shade, it does well in any moist soil from acidic to slightly calcareous. It is recommended to prune one third of the oldest branches back to the base every year after flowering to encourage rejuvenation. The plant is hardy, but protection from north and east winds is especially important in early spring to protect the flower buds.
