Arundo donax

Arundo donax, called arrow reed, giant reed or mammoth grass in Dutch, is one of the tallest, deciduous ornamental grasses with decorative, long, blue-green, sword-shaped leaves. In our climate this giant rarely blooms, after a good warm summer beautiful purple-tinted flower panicles can appear in the autumn. Arundo donax likes a sheltered position in full sun and does well in any soil that is not too dry.
