Astilbe simplicifolia 'Sprite' is a deciduous perennial with a dwarf clump-forming habit. The leaves of this astilbe are fern-like, compound, glossy, and colored bronze-green in spring and summer. From June to the beginning of August, this beautiful spirea blooms profusely with soft pink upright flower panicles. This astilbe likes a spot in partial shade to shade and can only handle full sun if the substrate is sufficiently moist in the summer. It does well in any well-drained, not too dry soil, is hardy, attracts bees and butterflies. Is reasonably air pollution tolerant but not really sea wind resistant.
