Baptisia 'Purple Smoke' has smoky, light purple flowers on dark gray stems.

Has a lupine-like inflorescence, but is much sturdier and remains beautiful and disease-free even after flowering, whereas lupines are just sensitive to aphids.

After flowering, beautiful black pods form in which the seeds develop. The seeds are ripe when they look black.
