Molinia arundinacea "Transparent" (syn. Molinia caerulea subsp. Arundinacea), also called pipe straw, is a medium-sized, deciduous grass species with tall, overhanging flower stems and a pol-forming habit. The leaves are medium green, linear, grass-like and turn a beautiful orange-yellow to yellow color in autumn. This molinia blooms from August to October, with airy, purple-brown flower panicles that turn yellow-brown later in summer and autumn. Molinia arundinacea "Transparent" likes a position in full sun or partial shade and is hardy, tolerant to sea wind and air pollution and generally both disease and pest free.
