Miscanthus sin. 'Gracillimus'
Miscanthus sinensis "Gracillimus", usually called beautiful cane in Dutch, is one of the most widely cultivated miscanthus species. This deciduous beautiful reed has a bushy, upright shape with very narrow linear mid-green leaves with a white mid-stripe, which turn straw-colored in autumn. Miscanthus sinensis "Gracillimus" blooms (sporadically) from August to October with copper-colored flower panicles, which turn silvery white later in the season when the seed matures. This beautiful reed likes a sunny position and a well-drained, slightly moist, moderately fertile soil. Miscanthus sinensis "Gracillimus" is hardy and, once established, also drought tolerant. It tolerates air pollution and sea wind.
