Lonicera pileata

Lonicera pileata is a decorative low-growing semi-evergreen shrub with a broad bushy habit. It blooms from May to June with unobtrusive scented ivory-white flowers. The leaves are glossy, dark green and lanceolate. Lonicera pileata does well in any well-drained soil and prefers a sunny or partial shade position. This honeysuckle is reasonably to moderately hardy and is easy to prune. The purple berries are loved by the birds and the small scented flowers provide good nectar for bees and insects. The plant is sea wind and air pollution tolerant and can be used as a coastal plant, ground cover, hedge, roadside planting. Little trouble with pests or diseases, occasionally mildew can occur.
