Iris pumila 'blue denim' is one of the first miniature bearded irises (1958) it is a low-growing, clump-forming and rhizomatous perennial. The evergreen leaves are short, sword-shaped and gray-green in color. This bearded iris blooms in May and June with fragrant denim blue flowers with a slightly wavy flower border. iris pumila 'blue denim' likes a position in full sun or partial shade and does well in any well-drained soil type. This miniature iris is very hardy and once established it also tolerates drought well, in addition it tolerates sea breeze and air pollution quite well.
