Leycesteria form. 'Golden Lanterns'
Leycesteria formosa 'golden lanterns', called pheasant berry or caramel berry in Dutch, is a medium-sized deciduous shrub with bushy upright growth and striking golden yellow foliage. It blooms for a very long time, namely from June to September with white flowers and purple-red bracts on hanging panicles, followed in autumn by fragrant purple-red and later black berries. Leycesteria likes a position in partial shade or sun, can be used in all soil types and is also reasonably drought tolerant. This plant is reasonably hardy, sea wind resistant, air pollution tolerant, attracts bees and butterflies and has few problems with pests or diseases.
