Arabis caucasica 'Snowcap', also called rice pudding, chalice or fringe flower in Dutch, is an evergreen perennial with a compact, low-growing shape. The leaves are obovate, coarsely toothed and colored grey-green. Arabis flowers from April to May with richly fragrant single white flowers in large racemes. It likes a position in full sun or partial shade, has a preference for calcareous soil, but also does more than well in neutral or slightly acidic soil, comes into its own in the rock garden or between joints of tiles and/or walls. Arabis caucasica is hardy and once established also drought tolerant.
