Iris setosa

Iris setosa, called bushy iris in English, is an upright, pol-forming and rhizomatous, evergreen, perennial plant. The leaves are long, narrow, lanceolate and medium green in color. This beardless iris blooms in May and June with fragrant, purple-blue, orris-like flowers with pendulous petals and a light white mark near the center of the flower. Iris setosa likes a position in full sun or light shade and a neutral to acidic, humus-rich, moist soil, it can also be planted with its feet in water. This iris is hardy and tolerates sea breeze and air pollution quite well. Occasionally this iris can be attacked by snails and saw wasps.
