Petasites hybridus

Petasites hybridus, also called butterbur, is a deciduous perennial with a broad habit and very large, heart-shaped, gray-green leaves that resemble a horse hoof and have white felt-like hair on the underside. The plant blooms from March to April, with pink to lilac-pink flowers, in spike-shaped clusters, even before the leaves appear. Petasites hybridus prefers a position in partial shade or shade, but can also handle full sun perfectly in sufficiently moist soil. The plant is also ph flexible and prefers to grow on the separation of land and water. Coltsfoot is hardy, attracts bees and insects and has little trouble with diseases or pests.
