Penstemon 'And. F. Hahn'
Penstemon "Andenken An Friedrich Hahn" (syn. Penstemon "garnet"), also called tortoise flower, is a particularly attractive, semi-evergreen perennial with a bushy, pol-forming habit and narrow, lance-shaped, mid-green leaves. The plant blooms particularly profusely from June to September, with beautiful, wine-red, tubular flowers, with a bell-shaped end and a white throat, which, with some imagination, could be compared to the inflorescence of digitalis (foxglove). Penstemon prefers a position in full sun or partial shade and well-drained, fertile soil. Unfortunately, this beautiful border plant is not super hardy and will certainly need some winter protection in colder regions.
