Helianthus atrorubens

Helianthus 'Atrorubens' is a deciduous perennial sunflower with a bushy upright shape. The leaves are medium green, ovate to lanceolate and have a serrated edge. In favorable conditions, this sunflower blooms from August to November with medium-sized, yellow flowers with a brown-purple center. Helianthus likes a sunny position and a well-drained, moderately fertile neutral to alkaline soil. The plant is hardy, tolerant of sea wind and air pollution, attracts many bees and butterflies and is a grateful summer and autumn bloomer. Used in borders, group planting, informal gardens, city gardens and as a cut flower.
