Fuchsia 'Riccartonii'

Fuchsia 'Riccartonii' is a reasonably hardy perennial or semi-shrub with a compact upright shape. This bubble plant has serrated, narrow, oval, dark green leaves with a light bronze cast. The plant blooms from July to October with small single flowers with scarlet red tubes and sepals and a dark purple corolla. Fuchsia 'Riccartonii' prefers a sheltered position in partial shade or filtered sunlight and does well in humus-rich, well-drained, peaty soil. This bubble plant is only moderately hardy and definitely benefits from solid winter protection, the plant is also tolerant to sea breezes and air pollution and attracts butterflies, bees, etc.
