Dianthus gratianopolitanus
Dianthus gratianopolitanus, also called rock carnation in Dutch, is an evergreen perennial with a ground covering, pol-forming habit. This rock carnation blooms profusely from June to July with pink to crimson flowers with a serrated edge. It likes an airy position in full sun and requires a well-drained, moist to moderately dry calcareous soil. This dianthus is very hardy, but hates wet feet in winter, once established it is fairly drought tolerant and can also be used as a coastal plant. Due to its tolerance to air pollution, it is also suitable for urban use. Rock carnation is used as a ground cover, cut flower and border plant.
