Delphinium 'Blue Bird'

Delphinium elatum 'Blue Bird', this tall delphinium from the pacific giant group is a deciduous perennial with a sturdy, upright, well-branched form. The leaves are three to five lobes, finely divided and medium green in color. Delphinium 'Blue Bird' flowers from June to August with large purple to violet-blue flowers with a black eye on firmly upright stems. Removing faded flowers is important to stimulate re-flowering.This delphinium likes a position in full sun sheltered from strong winds and prefers a soil that is not too acidic, fertile and well-drained. The plant is very hardy, attracts bees and butterflies and is also suitable for an urban environment.
