Brunnera macrophylla

Brunnera macrophylla is often called Cape forget me not in Dutch. It is a deciduous perennial with a clump-forming habit and fine hairy, heart-shaped fresh green leaves. It blooms from March to May with blue flowers in branching studs. The plant prefers a position in partial shade or filtered sunlight, but also in deep shade or even in full sun, provided the soil is sufficiently moist. Brunnera is hardy, fairly tolerant of air pollution, the plant attracts butterflies, bees and insects and is often used as an undergrowth for trees and shrubs. It can also be used in the coastal region on a sheltered position.
