Brunnera macrophylla "Jack Frost" is a relatively small Cape forget-me-not with a clump-forming habit and fine hairy, heart-shaped, very decorative, silver variegated leaves. "jack frost" blooms from April to May with soft blue flowers in branching studs. The plant prefers a position in partial shade or filtered sunlight, but also in deep shade or even full sun, provided the soil is sufficiently moist. Brunnera is hardy, fairly tolerant of air pollution, the plant attracts butterflies, bees and insects and is often used as an undergrowth for trees and shrubs. It can also be used in the coastal region on a sheltered position.
