Spiraea billardii

Spiraea billardii is also called muscle shrub in Dutch. It is a medium-sized, deciduous ornamental shrub with a broad, upright form. The mid-green leaves are oblong, narrow, almost lanceolate, sharply toothed, and the undersides are downy gray. In the summer, this muscular shrub blooms profusely with pink to pink-red flowers in upright panicles on annual wood. This spiraea likes a sunny to slightly shaded position in a well-drained, cool and moist soil. This plant is hardy, tolerates sea wind and air pollution, is pest and disease free and, in addition to the sea of flowers in spring, also offers beautiful orange-red leaf coloring in autumn.
