Rubus hybr. 'Benenden'

Rubus "Benenden" is a deciduous ornamental blackberry with a bushy, upright habit and overhanging thornless branches. The leaves are oval, trilobed, serrate and dark green in color. However, this rubus is especially notable for its beautiful inflorescence with pure white, fragrant flowers with deep yellow stamens. Flowering continues in May and June, but if pruned after flowering, a re-flowering can take place in late summer. This ornamental blackberry prefers to be in filtered sunlight and likes a nutrient-rich, moist soil. It is hardy and, once established, also fairly drought tolerant. This plant is pest free and air pollution tolerant.
