Physocarpus opulif. 'Tilden Park'

Despite its robustness, Physocarpus capitatus 'Tilden Park' is rarely planted in our gardens.

It is a broad groundcover shrub with silky maple-like purple leaves that turn green in summer to red-orange in fall.

The creamy white spring flowers, in large flattened corymbs, attract bees and butterflies and then give way to small red fruits that remain decorative for a long time.
