Magnolia soulangeana

Magnolia x soulangeana is a medium-sized, deciduous, multi-trunked tree with a bushy, broadly upright form. It has short, oval, matt-gloss, dark green leaves, which are downy on the underside. From April to May, this magnolia blooms with fragrant, white to pinkish, upright flowers with a pink-purple base. It likes a position in full sun or light shade and prefers a not too heavy, acidic to neutral, moist soil. This deciduous magnolia is low maintenance, requires little pruning, is fairly hardy, air pollution tolerant and exceptionally sometimes inconspicuous fruits follow in the fall.
