Hypericum dens. 'Buttercup'

Hypericum densiflorum 'buttercup' is a small semi-evergreen shrub that flowers from the end of June to September with golden yellow star-shaped flowers. This autumn hay variety has medium green to dark green, fine lanceolate leaves, is densely branched and has a wide spreading shape. Sometimes the branches can hang over slightly. This plant likes a sunny or partial shade position and does well in almost any soil, can withstand some drought and can be pruned back radically every year in the spring. This hypericum is somewhat sensitive to rust, but on the other hand it can tolerate some sea wind and is tolerant of air pollution. It attracts bees and butterflies, is fairly hardy and can be used in group plantings as a hedge or ground cover.
