Diervilla splendens

Native to North America, Diervilla x splendens is a low shrub with bright sulfur yellow flowers at the tips of the branches. Purple-tinged green leaves are lanceolate-ovate. Get a red fall color.

The branches are overhanging so that the shrub grows more in width. This makes the plant a good ground cover. Also because it produces root suckers and grows quickly.

Doesn't do well on heavy clay but is otherwise very easy to grow.
