Deutzia gracilis

Deutzia gracilis, this bridal flower, is a large deciduous shrub, with narrow ovate to lance-shaped bright green leaves and narrow white, fragrant panicles. This deutzia likes full sun and light shade, it does well in any moist soil from acidic to slightly calcareous. It is recommended to prune one third of the oldest branches back to the base every year after flowering to encourage rejuvenation. The plant is hardy, but protection from north and east winds is especially important in early spring to protect the flower buds.
