Deutzia grac. 'Nikko'

Deutzia gracilis 'Nikko', this bridal flower, is a small, compact deciduous shrub, with narrow lance-shaped light green leaves that turn a beautiful red in autumn. 'nikko' blooms with narrow white, fragrant flower panicles. This deutzia likes full sun and light shade, it does well in any moist soil from acidic to slightly calcareous. It is recommended to prune one third of the oldest branches back to the base every year after flowering to encourage rejuvenation. The plant is hardy, but protection against north and east winds is especially important in early spring to protect the flower buds.
