Asarum europaeum
Asarum europaeum or man's ear in English is an evergreen perennial with an attractive ground cover shape. The plant has beautiful shiny kidney-shaped green leaves and blooms in March and April with brown to purple-red bell-shaped flowers that protrude from short stems just above the foliage. Asarum europaeum prefers a position in partial shade or shade in a preferably acidic, well-permeable, moisture-retaining soil, once well established, mansoor is more drought tolerant. This plant is hardy, disease resistant but does not like salty sea breeze or urban air pollution. Snails also find asarum an attractive plant.
