Armeria maritima "Splendens Perfecta", also called English grass or beach herb, is an evergreen perennial with a ground covering, compact and clump-forming habit. The leaves are dark green, grassy and grow to about 10cm long. From May to July Armeria maritima "Splendens Perfecta" blooms abundantly with round dark pink to pink red flower heads on stiffly upright flower stems. This English grass likes a position in full sun or partial shade and requires a light, well-drained soil. The plant is drought tolerant, hardy and also tolerant to sea wind and air pollution. It is often used in rock gardens, alpine gardens, gravel gardens, in stone walls.
