Lathyrus latifolius 'pink pearl', known in Dutch as sweet pea or sweet pea, is a deciduous perennial with an upright, climbing habit. The leaves are elongated oval, grey-green and smooth-edged. This sweet pea blooms in July and August with pink to lilac-pink fragrant flowers that are grouped per 4 to 10 on one flower stem. In the fall, green seed pods with black seeds, later turning brown, follow. lathyrus latifolius 'pink pearl' likes a position in partial shade or sun and does well in any fertile, well-drained soil.
