Helleborus foetidus

Helleborus foetidus, also called stinking hellebore, is an evergreen perennial with a beautiful clump-forming habit and dark green, deeply cut, elongated leaves with a serrated margin. Stinking hellebore blooms from January through April with pale green nodding flowers without petals, grouped in lush racemes. This hellebore likes a spot in partial shade, but also does well in full shade under tall trees. It prefers well-drained, neutral or alkaline soil, but also tolerates slightly acidic soil. This plant is fairly hardy, but appreciates some winter protection in severe winters.
