Acorus gram. 'Ogon'

Acorus gramineus "Ogon", in Dutch called variegated dwarf calamus, is a small, semi-evergreen, water-purifying, bank or swamp plant with a pol-forming habit that spreads through rhizome. The leaves are narrow, stiff, grassy, aromatic and yellow-green in color. Variegated dwarf calamus blooms from June to August with inconspicuous, small green flowers that are densely grouped in the flower spikes. In our region, the plant only rarely forms red berries. Acorus gramineus "Ogon" prefers a position in full sun or partial shade and moist, soggy to wet soil. The plant is reasonably hardy, attracts butterflies and bees, is pest free, tolerant to sea wind and good disease resistance.
