Nymphaea 'Fire Opal'
Nymphaea "Fire Opal" is a richly blooming, pink water lily, which is especially suitable for the medium to large pond. The plant has large, almost round leaves that emerge purple-red and then slowly turn green. This water lily blooms from June to September, with beautifully double, pleasantly scented, peony-like, bright pink flowers, with a golden yellow center. As soon as the flower has finished flowering, it starts to sink to the bottom, after which the seeds can germinate. Nymphaea "Fire Opal" prefers a position in full sun or partial shade, a water depth of 0.40 to 0.70 meters and a nutrient-rich soil. The plant is hardy, attracts butterflies, bees and other insects, tolerates sea wind and light brackish water and is also tolerant to air pollution.
