Ruta graveolens

Ruta graveolens, also called rue, is an evergreen, bushy, upright semi-shrub with double-pinnate, gray-green to blue-green, lance-shaped leaves. Rue flowers in June and July with yellow, waxy flowers. The plant prefers a position in full sun or partial shade and a well-drained, not too fertile soil. Ruta graveolens is hardy, provided it is protected by a good mulch layer or backfill. The plant tolerates sea wind, air pollution and a fair amount of drought, is a host plant for the caterpillars of many butterflies and also attracts bees.
